Communing with Nature

We had a very good conversation and then went our separate ways. Someday I may be able to talk to a squirrel too.

Mom and my Daddy keep a bird feeder in a tree near our front door and a bird bath where it gets both a little sun and a little shade shade throughout the day. There is also a bigger feeder for the doves in our back yard. There are lots of different kinds of birds who visit both of the feeders. There is a squirrel who likes to help empty the feeders so sometimes Mom tosses nuts on the ground or in the crotch of the tree for him.

I do not get this close to the birds very often because they usually fly away when I walk toward them. I do not understand why because they do not fly away when I sit in the window to talk to them. My Daddy said I should not try to get too close to the big black ones he calls grackles because they like to dive bomb anyone who they want to make stay away. Sometime when I can sneak out without my Daddy I will try to make friends with a grackle. Would I be dive bombed if I just want to be friends?

Why?

I see absolutely no reason why Mom should have been complaining about difficulty making this bed. No reason at all.

I also see absolutely no reason why Mom has been so bad about letting me blog. She says she has had a sinus infection and she has been very tired and blah blah blah. I stopped listening to her puny excuses and have told her and told she must let me back on the 'puter. Maybe she will listen to me this time. sigh.

Nerissa I apologize for how long it has been since you told me about the award you gave me. I went to your blog and read about it way back in February. Thank you for choosing me as one of your five! Mom said we would post it soon but noooooo it is still not up. I think I may have embarrassed her enough that she will really get to it soon. I really hope so!

Happy New Year!

The black-eyed peas are soaking. The duckling we were supposed to have tomorrow defrosted too fast so we ate it yesterday. My Daddy is so happy with the apple pie that I am seriously thinking about trying some. We had a white Christmas but the snow is almost gone and the temperature is supposed to go into the high 50s soon. We have watched a ton of college football bowl games. Right now we are watching "America's Cutest Pet" on Animal Planet. It has been a very good week. (Mom keeps complaining about not having cell phone service but I still do not know why she needs it.)

Many good things happened this year and many sad things happened too. We look forward to the new year and hope you all have a good 2012.

Christmas Greetings

Merry Christmas!

It is a white one here and I have not been allowed outside at all for the past 3 days. I think it might be because my woofie Sushi comes in covered in snowballs every time she has to go out. She has a towel by the door and the blow dryer has been getting a good workout.

A cell tower is down and Mom does not have phone service and she is not very happy that she will nnot be able to call anyone tomorrow. She said it is a good thing she has e-mail and Facebook and my (MY!) blog but we all really hope that service is back by New Year's Day.

I am writing this post on Mom's new netbook which is why there is no picture today. I hope I can get on the big 'puter tomorrow so I can put up our Christmas card for you all to see my woofie Zeke wearing his reindeer antlers.

Merry Christmas!

More Sad News

My cousin Tippy was a wonderful dog ~ very loving and snuggly with Grandma and very protective of her too. He helped her get through some hard times and she loved him a lot. We all loved him almost as much as Grandma did. Sadly he got very sick with a big tumor in his tummy.

Grandma said Tippy did not seem to be in any pain. Although he had not eaten very well for several days he finally ate a good breakfast and enjoyed a short walk with Grandma on September 20. He stayed outside while she went inside for a while. When she went outside again she found that he had gone peacefully in his sleep.

We all miss you very much Tippy!
