The Great Tumbleweed Migration of 2010

Today was the start of the Great Tumbleweed Migration of 2010. Sadly the tumbleweeds ran into the obstacle of our home. Mom took these pictures from our front porch:

You can see that our grill and swing are almost covered when Mom started taking the pictures.

Then the tumbleweeds really started piling up.

And then the grill and swing were almost completely covered! This happened in the time it took Mom to take 6 pictures!

The sound in this video is the wind:

The wind blew so hard this morning that one of the tumbleweeds shattered the window in our bedroom. Now we have a big piece of plywood over the window and the bed is in the middle of the room instead of against the wall. It is after 9:00 p.m. now and the wind is still blowing very hard. Mom says we will have new glass put in the window when the wind stops blowing. I hope she is telling the truth because I cannot see outside now when I sit on the bed.

Even though Mom helped moving the tumbleweeds away from the house my Daddy hurt himself moving them. They left the ones that landed against the back fence and on our back porch because they were blowing in faster than Mom and my Daddy could move them out.

Sushi and Zeke do not like going out in this wind but they have to (hahahahaha). I know it is not nice to laugh at them but now is when I am glad I have a litter box!

I hope you are not having to deal with wind like this. I hope those of you who had a lot of snow are doing OK and that the power is back on for those who lost it. And I hope those of you who had a lot of rain in California did not get flooded out. I hope that our new year does not have this kind of weather!

Kibble Trouble

My woofie Zeke does not really like kibbles. If he never had to eat another kibble in his life he would be very happy. Mom says he has to eat some anyway because he needs them to keep his teeth at least a little bit clean.

So even though they get stinky goodness in the morning Zeke and Sushi can nibble a kibble any time they want because there are always kibbles in a special bowl on the floor near the water dish. Zeke says that if he has to eat kibbles they should be on the floor instead of in a dish ~ to make it easy for him to get to them (he does not always get his way). This is what usually happens when he gets hungry enough for his kibbles:

Thanksgiving Thursday 13!

Today I am thankful for very many things!
  1. My Grandma was able to come visit for 3 weeks. Mom had a lot of fun with her and I think Grandma enjoyed being here. I even sat 2 feet away from Grandma a couple of times. (OK it was just the day before she left and I never let her get close enough to touch me. But I didn't hide for the whole 3 weeks.)
  2. Grandma made it home to New Yuck safely.
  3. Mom and my Daddy will both be home all day.
  4. Mom turned on the hot air blowy things so I can be warm. She says she will probably have to put on a t-shirt in place of her sweater so she does not melt but I like the heat.
  5. This morning Zeke let me sit by the heat without barking at me.
  6. Sushi just gave me a woofie smooch without sliming me.
  7. I think I will have real turkey for lunch.
  8. If I do not have turkey for lunch at least I had White Meat Chicken Florentine in a Delicate Sauce with Garden Greens for breakfast.
  9. My Daddy lets me go outside sometimes and he always lets me back in again.
  10. The back yard is fenced to keep out the riff raff who live in our park but it does not keep out the doves who tease me to play with them.
  11. I get double cheek scritchies whenever I want them.
  12. I can take naps with my Daddy.
  13. My family all loves each other very much.

I hope you all have a very

Happy Thanksgiving!

My First Video Post

OK I do not know if this will work but I will post it anyway. My Daddy took this video of me eating grass in our back yard. It is very exciting because it is of me!

Tomorrow the university where Mom works is closed in the morning so everyone can go to the fair. She thinks that is funny. I think she should spend that time petting me.

Whew (again)!

My Daddy was stung on his foot by a scorpion that was trying to take a shower with him a few days ago. He is very allergic to bee stings so Mom and I were really concerned for him but he did not have any bad reaction to it except the pain of the sting.

That was the 4th scorpion we have found in our house this summer. Mom stepped on one early in the summer. It did not sting her. Instead she got the fly swatter and smushed it flat and threw it in the trash can.

I spent a lot of time staring at one but it did not want to play with me. And no one grabbed the flashy box to take pictures of any of them.

Mom will be very happy when the weather cools off enough that the scorpions go away again until next summer.

Labor Day 2010

This is how I would have spent my day if Mom had let me go outside. Instead all I could do was dream about being outside.

Do you see the feather?

I did get to eat one of my favorites today though ~ Fancy Feast® Elegant Medleys White Meat Chicken and Cheddar Cheese SoufflĂ© with Garden Greens. Yummmmmmm!

And now I ask you ~ does Sushi know how to relax or what?! My Daddy set up the hammock on our back porch and Sushi took it right over.

I am pretty sure that is a grin on her face.

She had just a little bit of trouble getting out again but she made it eventually. (She had a little help from my Daddy.)

We hope you had a relaxing Labor Day! Zeke and Sushi and I spent most of it being lazy. Mom wants to know how that is different from any other day for us so I told her the difference was that she was home relaxing with us!
